Climate & Environment

Climate Change Partnership Panel is an internal working group of councillors looking at the work of the council in relation to the environment objectives identified in the corporate plan. This group has now widened its objectives to include partnership meetings every other meeting. This allows the council to speak with key partners and work together to reduce the carbon footprint of the council and the town.

So far in response to climate crisis the Council has passed a motion supporting the Climate and Ecology Emergency Bill. Oswestry Town Council has committed to become Carbon neutral by 2030 and has planted thousands of trees, installed EV Charging points, provided free loft insulation, wildflower meadows and installed solar Pv panels on the indoor market roof and LED lighting in Guildhall, supported free bus travel and the cycle hub development in the town.

The work continues as we work with partners and develop new projects.
