The Council
Oswestry Town Council is an extremely pro-active Council with a wide ranging and varied portfolio.
Its range of functions include management of 3 town centre car parks, retail markets, Visitor Centre, Cae Glas Park and Oswestry Cemetery.
Also it looks after closed churchyards, Brogyntyn Park, Guildhall (including Archives store), Oswalds Well, Castle Bank and Oswestry Smithfield land. Its ownership of land also includes the Home Bargains and Edinburgh Woollen Mill stores at Cross Market.
It promotes various activities such as hanging baskets and floral displays (achieving through the Oswestry in Bloom Committee, a gold award for the last seven years), Christmas Music Live and town centre lighting displays and Brogyntyn Park Bonfire night.
The Council manages in excess of 500 town centre street lights and takes an active role in all planning issues.
