Tree Charter

At its meeting on Monday evening Oswestry Town Council unanimously agreed to sign the Tree Charter.

The Charter is supported by the National Association of Local Councils and sets out the principles for a society in which people and trees can stand together.

The Mayor of Oswestry Councillor John Price added "Council fully supported this notice of motion put forward by Councillor Rose. We are fortunate to live in a beautiful town and surrounding countryside and we need to respect this and protect it for future generations to come. Town and Parish Councils have a key part to play in protecting trees and woodlands and this can be done by embedding the ten principles from the Tree Charter into everyday practice"
