Thank You Bill Bowen

Each year the Mayor presents an award to an individual and an organisation that has done much for the local community and has provided service above self.

In making the award to Bill Bowen the Mayor, Councillor Vince Hunt confirmed that

"The individual award goes to a man who has given long and distinguished service to Oswestry. Bill is well known in the town and is a good friend to this Council.

His early life was in retail but he came into his community and voluntary roles through becoming a member of Oswestry Lions Club.

Bill has been a stalwart and pioneer for the Lions International sustaining the Oswestry club and being part of a group of volunteers that has raised thousands of pounds to support causes internationally, nationally and locally.

The recipient is well known for his pastoral role at St Oswald's Parish Church. As a member of the retired clergy team many hours are given to helping, supporting and comforting the church congregation and its wider family.

Bill is a family man with deep roots in Oswestry, its community, council and the voluntary sector."
