Oswestry Youth Music Festival 2020
For the overall winners of the 12 & under and 15 & under categories there is also a prize of £100, and for the overall winner of the 21 & under category there is a prize of £200.
Music is a performing art, and the Festival provides an excellent opportunity to perform in front of a friendly, supportive audience. Constructive feedback is provided by the adjudicators for every performer.
The dates for 2020 are Wednesday 26th February to Saturday 29th February, with the Finals Classes held on Sunday 1st March. We have a new trophy for the Organ Class, courtesy of the Courtyard Venue, and we are excited to be reviving the Rock Bands Class this year.
Entry fees remain at £6 for solo classes and £12 for ensemble classes, and we are reducing the fees for duet classes from £12 to £8. Admission to all performances is free and there is a small charge for programmes.
The three venues we use are Christchurch, Holy Trinity Church, and, after a successful trial last year, The Hermon Chapel.
The syllabus for 2020 can be obtained from The Guildhall, Oswestry, Shropshire SY11 4PZ, tel 01691 680222, or it can be downloaded from the Town Council's website at www.oswestry-tc.gov.uk. The closing date for entries is Friday 17th January and entries should arrive at the Guildhall no later than 1 pm on that day. Once again, we are running the annual competition to design the logo for the festival and the entry form for this can be found with the syllabus. The winning design will be used on the programmes and also on the stickers. Entries for this should also be received by 1 pm on Friday 19th January.
