Oswestry in Bloom Awards 2019

Oswestry In Bloom Committee have been organising several competitions in the town, including residential properties and local businesses, for many years.

This year retailers were asked to create a 'Bee' related theme and examples of imaginative shop window displays can be seen and enjoyed throughout the town and the record number of entries have been stronger than ever, boasting an exceptionally high standard of the displays throughout. Obviously the appearance of local shops is important to the vibrancy of the town and promoting the image of Oswestry is important to the committee, as is the fantastic floral displays seen throughout Oswestry. Oswestry In Bloom also offer a hanging basket scheme to encourage businesses to purchase hanging baskets which can then be managed by the Town Council throughout the summer.

Margaret Thrower, daughter of the famous TV Presenter and Gardener Percy Thrower, always enjoys judging the business as well as the numerous residential gardens and likewise the participants always look forward to meeting her. As always, the competition presentation, held at Whole Life Church on the 7th September, was well attended headed by the Chairman of the Oswestry In Bloom Committee, Miss Betty Gull, who has been driving In Bloom initiative's for many years ensuring Oswestry gets consecutive Gold at the national Heart Of England competition. The committee would like to thank all the residents and businesses who take part in the annual In Bloom competition and all the volunteers who work behind the scenes to make Oswestry an attractive place to live and visit. Oswestry Town Council also play an important role in supporting the committee, especially for the Heart of England campaign. Well done everyone!
