Oswestry Health Group
At its recent meeting the group were delighted with the range of clinics and surgeries that are now being provided at the new Oswestry Health Centre.
It was acknowledged that work is nearing completion in the networking of X-ray and a phased introduction programme for X-ray and the minor injuries unit into the health Centre will follow. The target is for full operation by Christmas.
The Town Council has agreed to fund an Audiological suite and the target for opening is the end of September. At present some 3,000 appointments take place out of the town.
In terms of opening of the Health Centre then it is agreed that this should be when X-ray and the minor injuries unit are in place.
The Chief Executive of Coverage Care Services has provided an update on the replacement for Fairholme. It is acknowledged that the building is progressing well and is up to time. The existing Fairholme patients will all transfer and in terms of day services then significant progress has been made with agreement being reached with Shropshire Council to continue the contract that exists into the new Home on the existing levels of service.
The anticipated handover is at the end of February with an April 2013 opening to acknowledge the 50th year anniversary of the opening of the first Fairholme.
Discussions also took place with updates from West Midlands Ambulance Service, Shrop Doc, Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital NHS Trust and social services.
The next meeting is scheduled for 21st September in the Board Room at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital.
