New Electric Vehicle Charging Points

Oswestry Town Council has opened two electric vehicle charging points in the town’s Central car park.   The new rapid charging points are run by a company called InstaVolt and cost £0.35 per kWh to use. There’s no connection fee and no monthly membership fee. Vehicles using them will however need to pay for car parking. The Council considered a number of options after it adopted a notice of motion in the name of Councillor Paul Milner.

Instavolt were selected because of their pay as you use approach, the quality of the product and their proposal to put in rapid chargers.

Councillor Duncan Kerr, Mayor of Oswestry, said: "These units will improve the accessibility to the town for electric vehicles driven by visitors and residents alike. Their opening shows our commitment to reducing carbon emissions and protecting the environment. Oswestry is in a strategically important location and there are very few charging points in town centres in the area - we would like to encourage electric vehicle drivers to stop off and charge up in Oswestry and take some time to explore our wonderful town.
