Mayor's Message

The Mayor Councillor John Price said "We have a contingency plan in place which we are reviewing on a daily basis. Decisions are being made in line with national guidance and in the public interest - we are always mindful of the impact of these decisions but need to support the Governments policy to encourage people to stay at home unless absolutely necessary.

As of today (Tuesday), we have taken the decision to close most of our services and have a minimum staff presence. There is no access to the Guildhall and I encourage anyone who has an enquiry to contact us by phone or via e-mail and I am working closely with the Town Clerk to review what we do and how we do it.

As a Council we are in dialogue with partners in the community to see how we can all work together to support those who need help. Clearly these are difficult times and I would encourage people to look out for one another, to be considerate and to follow the advice of the Government. There are groups out there helping people and I would ask that if you do need help, then please ask for it. Oswestry BID are working with their members and a number of them are providing a delivery service The Town Council will also try and support those who need help and those who are willing to volunteer, our contact number is 01691 680222"
