Finance & General Purposes Committee Meeting

The Councils’ Finance and General Purposes Committee met on Monday evening to consider a number of items of business.

The Council awarded grants of £500 to Dragon ADC football academy for kit and equipment and to the Shropshire ME group towards the cost of providing virtual support.

Elected members considered a number of different payment options for the car park and at their meeting in November will further consider the introduction of a pay by app option. The Committee also decided not to undertake a review of the access and design of the central car park.

There were a number of public consultations under consideration including the parking charges for the Beatrice Street Car Park and the Shropshire Council Leisure Facility Strategy. The complex issue of Pavement Parking was debated at length in light of the Government consultation (The Department for Transport (DFT) is undertaking a national consultation on pavement parking https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/managing-pavement-parking/pavement-parking-options-for-change) and a number of points will be submitted to Shropshire Council to inform their response.
