COVID-19 Update

Oswestry Town Council are closely following Government and professional bodies advice regarding Coronavirus.

The Mayor Councillor John Price said "We have a contingency plan in place which we are reviewing on a daily basis. Decisions are being made in line with national guidance and in the public interest - we are always mindful of the impact of these decisions. We have taken the decision to restrict access to the Guildhall and encourage anyone who has an enquiry to do so by phone or via e-mail. Council meetings will only take place where there are urgent issues that need to be resolved and I am working closely with the Town Clerk to review what we do and how we do it. From today we have taken the decision, in consultation with our partners, to close the Museum and the Visitor and Exhibition Centre with immediate effect. The market, both indoor and outdoor will be open as normal tomorrow - this is constantly being reviewed and we will work with our market traders to try and support them through what will inevitably be a difficult time."

"As a Council we have begun dialogue with partners in the community to see how we can all support those who have to self-isolate and those who have to avoid social contact. Clearly these are difficult times and I would encourage people to look out for one another, to be considerate and to follow the advice of the Government"
