Britain In Bloom

Oswestry was judged on Wednesday 1st August 2018 by Rae Beckwith and James Cordingley from the Britain In Bloom organisation who visited Oswestry for the first time, enjoying Cae Glas Park, acknowledging the improvements made at the Willow Street entrance and the recent investment into too many of the flower displays.

Both the Heart of England and the Britain In Bloom visits recognised the benefits of the strong partnership with Shropshire and Oswestry Town Council working with the Oswestry In Bloom Committee to make improvements throughout the town.

Oswestry enjoyed another Gold at the Heart of England presentation however narrowly missed a Gold and were awarded a Silver Gilt at the Britain In Bloom presentation which was announced in Belfast on the 19th October 2018. As a first-time entrant into the UK Finals, the judges were delighted with the warm welcome they received and much enjoyed meeting the Mayor, Town Crier, and Margaret Thrower and were impressed by the very high standards which Oswestry boasts.

A highlight for the judges was the visit to the garden of Mr and Mrs Bainbridge with some very high horticultural practice at 27 Croxon Rise.

They were also impressed by the Bellan House children's magic carpet on the entrance to Central Car Park.
