Archive Accreditation
The Mayor, Councillor Sandy Best was handed the award by Mike Rogers. Sector Development Manager.
The award means that the Town Council Archives meet the high professional standards expected.
Elizabeth Oxbarrow-Cowan, Committee Member for the UK Archives Accreditation Standard praised the Council for its commitment to its archives and its history adding that "The Oswestry Town Council Archives are the smallest archives to achieve this award and I commend the Council, the archivist and Shropshire Archives for this achievement and for its commitment to local history. I will highlight Oswestry as an example of good practice."
The Mayor, Councillor Sandy Best thanked those for attending the presentation, especially the Oswestry and Family History Group noting "I am pleased to be here accepting this certificate on behalf of the Council. I am a champion of local history and of the archives and it is a credit to the commitment of the Council that we have met the high standards expected by the National Archive Service"
