Transport Minister visits Oswestry
The Transport Minister, the Rt Hon John Hayes was in Oswestry today to discuss with a large representation from the local community the dualling of the A5 and the provision of a Pant/Llanymynech Bypass.
Pictured welcoming the Minister are the Rt Hon Owen Paterson MP who facilitated the meeting and the Town Mayor Councillor Paul Milner.
The Minister visited Shotatton Crossroads on the A5; listened to a series of presentations and representations from local groups, organisations and individuals including the emergency services about the issues of the A5 and then visited Pant to discuss the Pant/Llanymynech Bypass with local representatives.
In addressing local representatives the Minister suggested that the timing of the visit could not be more pertinent as the second phase of the Road Investment Strategy is now being considered and what schemes will be included post 2020.
Praise was given to Owen Paterson MP by the Minister who suggested that the campaign led by the North Shropshire MP could not have “a more assiduous, determined and powerful advocate than Owen Paterson.”
