Oswestry Xmas Music Live 2012

The annual Oswestry Christmas Live event on Friday 7th December is set to be bigger and better than ever. Oswestry Town Council introduced this event nine years ago to help promote Oswestry as a visitor attraction and to boast the local economy. The evening will also enjoy free car parking after 5pm and the Town Council supports the Oswestry Chamber of Commerce by having free parking after 2pm from the 18th December to the 24th in Oswestry. (Central, Smithfield and Horse Market Car parks only).

Last years event

Christmas Music Live has grown into one of the largest Christmas celebrations in Shropshire and includes an assortment of entertainment including enormous fairground rides positioned throughout the town centre. The award winning Porthywaen Silver Band will be playing carols outside the park gates from 6.30pm and the event is supported by various local choirs and musical groups and back by popular demand is the music stage on Festival Square. Street entertainers and fire eaters will also be strolling around the town and performing throughout the evening.

All the towns shops support this event so please visit all the shops who will be open this night. This year, for the second year running, residents and visitors will enjoy an either bigger synthetic ice rink on Festival Square where local schools have been invited to have lots of skating fun. Public sessions will be available between 7pm and 9pm.

Oswestry Town Council is also holding a Christmas Food and Craft Market down Bailey Street and at the Bailey Head where again their will be lots of live music and choirs. As well as being open for late night bargains, the Indoor Market will also be the home of the Santa's Grotto where children are invited to meet Santa in aid of the Hope House Charity.

To complete the celebrations there will be a massive firework display at Cae Glas Park at 9.00 pm. As you can see, there is plenty for everyone to enjoy so come along and take part in this special night and help make Oswestry a special place.
