National Moment of Reflection

On behalf of the Mayor, the Town Council wishes to provide an update on the arrangements over the next few days during the national period of mourning, leading up to the state funeral.

A book of condolence will be open and available for members of the public to sign at the Guildhall. The Guildhall will be open from 10am to 3pm on Saturday and Sunday and then again from 10am to 5pm on Tuesday 20th.The Mayor and other civic leaders will be attending a civic service of remembrance on Sunday at 6pm at St Oswalds Church. A National Moment of Reflection will take place at 8pm on Sunday, and marked by a one-minute silence. Oswestry residents are encouraged to mark the silence at home, with friends and family, on doorsteps or the street with neighbours or to join the Mayor outside the park gates at 7:55pm. On Monday 19 September, the day of the Queen's funeral, council offices will be closed as a mark of respect. Following this, the flag flying over the Guildhall will return to full mast from 8.00 am on Tuesday 20th.
