40th Anniversay Concert
This year the Youth Music Festival also celebrated its 40th year and as a consequence a special anniversary concert was held at Christchurch on the 4th March.
The Festival all began as a result of the Queen's Silver Jubilee celebrations of 1977 when the Town Council established a Committee from local organisations to arrange a programme of entertainment to mark that important anniversary. The Anniversary Concert was all in aid of the CLIC Sargent Charity which is the UK's leading cancer charity for children, young people and their families. Their care teams have been providing specialist support across the UK for years. The special concert consisted of past winners over the span of 40 years including the very first contestant Mr Haydn Jones.
The concert was a fantastic success with a packed Christchurch enjoying the quality performances. In total an incredible £1040 was raised by the concert.
