Oswestry Music Festival goes from strength to strength. It dates back to the Queen's Silver Jubilee celebrations of 1977, it now well established in the County Music Calendar and entries are attracted from Shropshire, Cheshire, Wrexham and North and Mid Wales. Normally held in March of each year the Festival includes a programme of individual, group and school opportunities linked with celebrity concerts. Trophies, certificates and prizes are awarded to competitors and past overall winners of the Festival have gone on to successful professional musical careers.

Competitions take place over 4 days in the Methodist Church and Christchurch.  The Chairman expresses the view that "this is a marvellous opportunity for young people to come and make music in Oswestry. The top class adjudicators that have again been booked will be on hand to provide encouragement and objective advice on every participants' performances". The Chairman further commented upon the ever increasing popularity of the Oswestry Festival which draws entries from the local area, throughout Shropshire, North Wales and beyond.
