Oswestry In Bloom - Gold

Category: Large Town

Wow, what a splendid whistle stop tour of the town. It is perfectly clear that there is a real passion amongst the town's people that makes them proud of Oswestry. Maesbury Metals not only produces some stunning pieces of metalwork but the small garden fully epitomizes the RHS "Greening grey Britain" theme. The town centre was immaculately clean and void of any litter, a credit to all concerned. A great effort has gone into more sustainable planting throughout the town in particular Cae Glas Park and Old Chapel Court. The increased number of sponsored hanging baskets and containers certainly makes an impact. A first for both judges was a bloom helicopter flight over the town to view the Hillfort.

Thank you Ridgeway Rentals

The Council and Oswestry in Bloom wish to place on record their genuine thanks to Stuart Jones and Ridgeway Rentals for kindly providing our Heart of England in Bloom judges with a helicopter view of Oswestry during judging of the town this week.

The judges often ask questions relating to the Hiilfort and other sites and it means that in the very short judging schedule it is impossible to visit all that we wish to show.

The judges are often transported in various unusual forms of transport but they admitted that this was the first time they had been taken to look at a town from above.

Pictured thanking Stuart Jones of Ridgeway Rentals http://www.ridgwayrentals.com/ is the Mayor Councillor Paul Milner.

The Mayor confirmed "this was a very generous gesture from Ridgeway Rentals who were very keen to show their support to Oswestry. It really gave the wow factor to the judging process and helped show off Oswestry at its very best."

Gold Standard for 12 Years

The Bloom Committee has taken the town to great heights in national competitions, winning Gold Awards in the Heart of England in Bloom Competition for the last 12 years.

If you would like to help the In Bloom Committee, then please contact Louise Humphreys on 01691 680 222. All offers of help are greatly appreciated and if you have specialist skill, then you may be invited to join the Bloom Committee.
