Oswestry is a thriving border market town with a lively café culture. The historic award winning market and eclectic mix of small shops, not to mention the independent book shop of the year, combine to make Oswestry an attractive and interesting shopping experience.
"What a friendly town" is an often heard comment from our visitors as they stroll around Oswestry's bustling streets. And it's true! Whether you come for the weekly markets or to browse the interesting mix of small independent shops, a warm welcome is sure to make your visit quite special. Shopping isn't the only local activity though! Discover our industrial heritage with a visit to the Cambrian Heritage Railway or Town Museums, or follow the Wilfred Owen trail to find out more about the famous war poet's childhood in Oswestry. Guided Tours of the town can be enjoyed all summer too. To really get to know Oswestry, make our Town Tourist Information Centre the first stop on your day out. You'll find it in the Oswestry Visitor & Exhibition Centre through the churchyard.
The Attfield Theatre Company is a small but vibrant armature dramatic society based in Oswestry. Plays are host in their own 97 seat theatre within Oswestry's Guildhall.
They perform comedies, dramas and musicals four or five times a year with the new season starting in September of each year.
Wander into the award winning Cae Glas Park, just a few steps away from the centre of the town and sit amongst the glorious flowers or challenge the family to a game of crazy golf or crown green bowls.
We wish you the best of visits.
