GRACE REES CHARITY |
|
|
|
Under the will of Elizabeth Ellen Rees
of Rhyl, co. Flint, proved 19 Oct. 1936, when the life interest of legatees
had been determined, the town of Oswestry received a bequest of £1,000 for
Grace Rees Scholarships at educational establishments in Oswestry or at a
university, for scholars who showed ability and needed financial
assistance. Upon the advice of the
Department of Education and Science the money was used for grants to out of
school activities and towards costs of courses of study. No formal meetings were held after Jan.
1974. Records after that date are in
the Town Council correspondence file on the charity. |
