Oswestry Youth Music Festival Back to Events
Oswestry Music Festival goes from strength to strength. It dates back to the Queen’s Silver Jubilee celebrations of 1977, it now well established in the County Music Calendar and entries are attracted from Shropshire, Cheshire, Wrexham and North and Mid Wales. Normally held in March of each year the Festival includes a programme of individual, group and school opportunities linked with celebrity concerts. Trophies, certificates and prizes are awarded to competitors and past overall winners of the Festival have gone on to successful professional musical careers.
Competitions are to take place over 4 days in the Methodist Church and Christchurch.
The Chairman expresses the view that “this is a marvellous opportunity for young people to come and make music in Oswestry. The top class adjudicators that have again been booked will be on hand to provide encouragement and objective advice on every participants' performances”. The Chairman further commented upon the ever increasing popularity of the Oswestry Festival which draws entries from the local area, throughout Shropshire, North Wales and beyond.
2012 Syllabus

Kelly Anne Crooks (pictured above) from Adcote School in Little Ness has won the Oswestry Youth Music Festival logo design competition. Her design was transferred onto 1,000 stickers for all performers in the Festival, it was also used on the front cover of the programme. The competition was open to all schools in the surrounding area.
Councillor Martin Bennett Chairman of the Festival Organising Committee said “we were delighted with the number of entries and the high standard that was evident. Kelly Anne’s was a design that caught the eye of the judges and we are delighted to use it as the logo for this year’s Music Festival.”
